9 languages, one speaking partner

The same AI tutor, the same instant grammar and word-choice feedback, and the same free access — in every language below. Pick one and start talking.

Every language here is free and needs no account, and the feedback covers grammar, word choice and fluency only — never pronunciation or accent.

Set up your English session

Three quick choices, or skip them entirely and press start — we will pick a sensible tutor and situation for you.

Choose your tutor

Every tutor is an AI. Pick the coaching style and the accent you want to hear.

Voice practice works in Chrome, Edge and Safari. In other browsers the tool runs in text mode — you type, the tutor still replies and corrects you, and the session report is identical. Nothing is locked either way.

How a practice session works

No lesson plan to follow and nothing to install. One page, one conversation, one report — and it works the same way in every language.

Press the microphone and talk

Your browser turns your speech into text on your own device, so we never receive an audio recording. Prefer to type? The text box is always there and works exactly as well.

Your tutor replies out loud

The reply is written on screen and read aloud in the accent you chose, so you can listen, read along, or replay any line as many times as you want.

Feedback appears as you go

Each thing you say gets a collapsed feedback chip underneath: a more natural rewrite, specific grammar and word-choice notes, and any new vocabulary worth keeping. Open it when you want it — it never interrupts the conversation.

Finish and read your report

A score out of 100, what went well, two or three concrete things to work on, the vocabulary you met and every correction — downloadable in one click.

Built for the part of a language that is hardest to practise

Reading and listening you can do alone. Speaking needs someone to speak to, and that is exactly the resource most learners do not have.

Nobody is judging you

The single biggest blocker to speaking is the fear of sounding wrong in front of a person. Here you can restart a sentence five times, at six in the morning or at midnight, and it costs you nothing.

Correction without interruption

A human tutor either interrupts your flow to correct you or lets the mistake pass. Written feedback under each turn gives you both: an unbroken conversation and a record of everything worth fixing.

Honest about what it is

Your tutor is labelled "AI Tutor" for the whole session, we do not claim to score pronunciation, and we tell you exactly what your browser can and cannot do before you start.

How to get real value out of an AI speaking partner

An easy conversation that ends in praise will not move your speaking. Three habits turn the same fifteen minutes into progress, in any language.

Talk for longer than feels comfortable

Most learners answer in six words and wait. Keep going two or three sentences past that point — add a reason, an example, what happened next. Long turns are where word-choice and tense problems surface; short turns produce short, uninformative corrections.

Say the correction out loud before you move on

Reading a correction is passive; producing it is not. When the feedback chip offers a more natural rewrite, say the whole sentence aloud once before your next message. It is the step almost everyone skips, and the one that moves a correction into your own speech.

Repeat one scenario until it is boring

Variety feels productive and mostly is not. Run the same interview three sessions in a row and you stop assembling sentences and start recalling them — which is the fluency you want under real pressure. Your report gives you two or three things to fix, not a wall of errors: take one, and work on only that next time.

What this tool does not do

It does not score pronunciation. Genuine pronunciation assessment needs phoneme-level acoustic analysis that a browser does not expose, and any free tool claiming otherwise is guessing. What you get is feedback on grammar, word choice and fluency, based on the text of what you said. Hearing a native-accent voice read your corrected sentence back to you is still real pronunciation practice — it is just modelling rather than scoring, and we would rather say so.

It is also not a certification, and it is not a human teacher. It is unlimited, patient, free speaking practice, which for most people is the thing standing between them and actually using the language they are learning.

Where to go next

If you are practising for work, the same interview answers you rehearse here belong on paper too — our free resume builder and ATS resume checker are free in the same way this is, with no account and no paywall.

Questions people ask before they start

Is the AI Speaking Partner really free?

Yes. There is no account, no email capture, no card and no trial clock. You open the page, choose a language, a tutor and a situation, and start talking. Signing in later only adds optional extras — your session history, a saved vocabulary bank and a practice streak. Every part of the conversation itself, including the corrections and the end-of-session report, is free and unlimited within a fair daily allowance that exists only to keep the tool running.

Which languages can I practise?

This page is the English tutor, and there are 8 more with their own tutors, their own accents and their own everyday situations: Spanish, French, German, Japanese, Korean, Italian, Portuguese, Mandarin Chinese. Each one is a full page of its own, free in exactly the same way, and the language chooser near the top of this page links straight to them.

Am I talking to a real person?

No, and we say so on every screen. Your tutor is an AI language model, labelled "AI Tutor" beside its name for the entire conversation. It is very good at holding a natural conversation and at spotting grammar and word-choice problems, but it is software, not a human teacher, and it can occasionally be wrong. Treat it as unlimited low-pressure practice, not as a certified assessment.

Which browsers support speaking out loud?

Full two-way voice — you speak, the tutor speaks back — works in Chrome and Edge on Windows, macOS, Linux and Android, and in Safari on macOS and iOS. Firefox can play the tutor voice but cannot yet listen to you. Everywhere else the tool runs in text mode. The page detects this for you and tells you which mode you are in before you start; nothing is hidden and nothing is broken.

Does it score my pronunciation?

No, and be wary of free tools that claim to. Honest pronunciation scoring needs phoneme-level acoustic analysis that browsers do not expose. What you get here is feedback on the language itself: grammar, word choice and fluency, based on what you actually said. Hearing a native-accent tutor read your corrected sentence back is still one of the most useful things you can do for your own pronunciation.

Is my voice recorded or stored?

Your speech is converted to text by your own browser using the built-in Web Speech API. We never receive an audio recording — only the text of what you said, which is what the tutor needs in order to reply and correct you. That text IS stored on our servers, because the tutor needs the conversation so far in order to reply, score you and build your end-of-session report. Guests are not linked to any account and their conversations are deleted outright; for a signed-in learner the transcript, the written report and the IP address are removed and only the dated numbers — turns, score, minutes, words — are kept, so a practice streak survives without the conversation surviving with it. IP addresses go sooner than anything else. The privacy policy at /english-speaking-partner/privacy/ states every retention period exactly, and anyone can have the lot deleted at /english-speaking-partner/delete-account/ without an account.

Can I use it if I am a complete beginner?

Yes. Tell the tutor at the start that you are a beginner and it will slow down, use shorter sentences and stay on concrete everyday topics. The corrections stay gentle and specific rather than rewriting everything you say. If a scenario feels too hard, finish the session and choose an easier one — the report tells you what to try next.

Your first conversation starts in about four seconds
